USA Homestays has been placing international college students into local Lexington homes since 2017. We have worked with students from Oman, Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Kuwait, India, Pakistan and other countries. Students who live with our host families experience American culture and improve their English more quickly than other students. In addition, they have a place of belonging – a home away from home!
Paul & Heidi Reese are the Homestay Managers for the Lexington area.
Paul & Heidi are married, with three adult children, one of whom is living in China. They have hosted multiple students from Saudi Arabia, Oman and France. Having traveled internationally and lived in the Netherlands for a year, they know what it’s like to live in another country. They enjoy meeting students from other cultures and interacting with them over meals, board games, and outdoor activities, including Paul’s favorite hobby-- playing disc golf! Their goal is helping students feel “at home” in Lexington.
In addition to providing homestays, we connect students with families for holiday celebrations (Thanksgiving and Christmas). USA Homestays has hosted cross-cultural dinners, including an iftar meal during Ramadan. We have also led trips to such places as the Smoky Mountains, Red River Gorge, Mammoth Cave, and more.
